PT PANN Pembiayaan Maritim – PANN Maritime Finance is a reputable non bank financial institution in Indonesia with rapidly growing. The Company is a subsidiary company of PT PANN (Persero), a leading state owned company in Indonesia engaged in ship financing. PT PANN Pembiayaan Maritim was established in 8 August 2012 and headquartered in Jakarta. PT PANN (Persero) holds 99.9998% shares and other remaining shares holds by the Government of Indonesia and PT Mandiri Sekuritas. PT PANN Pembiayaan Maritim performing business in shipping-based financial services, including leasing, factoring, ship management systems, vessel monitoring system (VMS), and planned maintenance system (PMS).
PT PANN Pembiayaan Maritim – PT PANN was established in May 1974 as a State Owned Enterprise engaged in ship financing, with the aim to develop national shipping.
The existence of PT PANN is to facilitate the shipping companies that need financing of ships and also functions to balance the economic power in the shipping sector
PT PANN (Persero)’s purpose of establishment
As per its articles of association, PT PANN (Persero) was established by the government for the purpose of:
Contributing to operate government policy and program in the area of national economy and development in general and procurement of commercial fleet, buoys and other supporting equipment in particular.
To achieve the purpose, the company shall procure ship by ordering new ship and purchasing commercial ship and ship equipment for sale, purchase-and-hire out or hire out to national shipping firm or ship owner in need. The same goes for business of procurement of dock needs for the purpose of improvement and development of national commercial ship.
The company may also establish or conduct other business having to do with the above mentioned business areas, either by it alone or joining other bodies as long as such is not contradictory to prevailing law and regulation and in accordance with the provision of articles of association.
During the beginning of the 2nd Five Year Development Plan, the government paid a serious attention to the increased foreign content market segment, in particular Japan, Australia, USA and Europe. To anticipate the content growth, the government decided to rehabilitate general cargo ship of 603.691 dead weight tonnage.
The 2nd Five Year Development Plan documents contain statement that government is to establish a body assigned to deal with national commercial fleet development. Then in the early 1974, the government worked out a plan for empowering national shipping sector to stimulate economic growth.
Soon thereafter, Ministry of Communication issued a Government Regulation No. 18/1974 on state capital participation for the establishment of the company in the area of national commercial fleet improvement. Based on the Government Regulation, on 16th May 1974, PT PANN (Persero) was brought into financing institute group dealing with leasing activity, venture capital and factoring.
From 2004, PT PANN (Persero) returned to its core business, i.e. to finance the procurement of ship according to its initial purpose back to the time when the company was established. Since its establishment in 1974 up to the late 2010, PT PANN (Persero) has financed procurement of 210 ships.
