PT Asuransi Kredit Indonesia (Persero) – PT. ASKRINDO (Persero) was established by the Government of Indonesia on 6 April 1971 through Government Regulation no. 1/1971 dated January 11, 1971 to serve the mission of the Government of Indonesia in empowering SMEs to support the Indonesian economy. Role PT. Askrindo (Limited) in the empowerment of SMEs is as “collateral institution” on loans extended by banks to SMEs.
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Indonesia’s economic strength. At the macro level, the role of this sector in the national economy is very significant. In 2007 the contribution of small and medium enterprises to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Indonesia reached Rp. 2.121 Trillion. This indicates that more than half of the national economy of motion supported by the sector.
Although SMEs proved to make a significant contribution to the national economy, but until now the development of this sector is not as expected. Many SMEs are still experiencing problems obtaining access to financing from the Bank / NBFI, besides that there are also issues credit and high interest rate bank limited range of services. Under these conditions, the function PT. Askrindo (Limited) as a guarantor is required to overcome it.
