Perusahaan Umum Produksi Film Negara – Perum PFN is one of the pioneers of the film industry in Indonesia. The birth of this company began with the establishment of a film company by Albert Ballink in 1934 called Java Pacific Film. Java Pacific Film is separate from the Colonial Institute or the Colonial Institute which in 1919 produced the film “Onze Oost” or “Timur Milik Kita”.
The birth of Java Pacific Film precisely coincided with the formation of Nederlandsch Indiche Bioscoopbond (Association of Indian Cinema) and Film Committee (the forerunner of Film Censorship Institutions).
In 1936 the name Java Pacific Film was changed to Algemeene Nederlands Indiesche Film (ANIF). This company focuses on making story films and documentary films. The entry of Japan also contributed to the intricacies of the story of this company.
ANIF was taken over, and its name was changed to Nippon Eiga Sha which specializes in producing Japanese political propaganda as a unifying Asia.
Entering the era of independence, the company was handed over to the Indonesian government. Along with these steps, company employees cover various historical events. In 1950, the company was transformed into a State Election Company (PPN), spelling improvements made its name to the State Film Company (PFN). Name changes once again occurred in 1975.
In order for the company to make a profit and run professionally, the government changed the status of PPFN to become a State Film Production General Company (Perum PFN) and changed to PT State Film Production Company. If calculated since the establishment of this company in 1934, the PFN has been 84 years old in 2018.
