About PT Marga Mandalasakti
PT Marga Mandalasakti is a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk that construction of all parts of the road to connect with the port of Merak was almost complete. PT Marga Mandalasakti – MMS was established on 4 October 1989 in Jakarta and started its commercial operation on 1 April 1990. The Company operates the 72.45 km long of Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, which connects West Tangerang and Merak, the further west of the Island of Java. The toll road passes through 3 cities – Tangerang, Serang, and Cilegon.
The Tangerang-Merak Toll Road was built in phases from 1992 to 1996 under the build, operate, and transfer (BOT) scheme. The Company is in charge of its construction, operation, and maintenance according to The Minister of Public Works’ Decree No.305/KPTS/M/2009 dated on 7 April 2009 on the Stipulation of the Adjustment of Concession Period and Initial Toll Tariff for Tangerang-Merak Toll Road.
On 29 March 2011, the Company and the Toll Road Authority entered into an Amendment to the Toll Road Concession Agreement (PPJT) to amend the PPJT dated on 16 April 2009, based on the Public Works Minister’s Decree No.62/KPTS/M/2011 dated on 11 March 2011 regarding The Second Amendment to the Public Works Minister’s Decree No.305/KPTS/M/2009 on the Stipulation of the Adjustment of Concession Period and Initial Toll Tariff for Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, the Company’s concession period is valid until 29 November 2047.
The Company’s major shareholder, with a 79.3 % controlling interest, is PT Astratel Nusantara, a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk, that runs infrastructure business.
The Tangerang-Merak Toll Road has 9 tollgates; Cikupa, West Balaraja, East Balaraja, Ciujung, East Serang, West Serang, East Cilegon, West Cilegon, and Merak Tollgates. Support services available to toll road users include 4 ambulances, 1 rescue truck, 7 patrol cars, 7 tow trucks, 7 Variable Message Signs (VMS’s), 26 closed-circuit television (CCTV) sets installed along the toll road, as well as 1,108 street lights and 38 warning lights. Rest areas are available at KM 68 and KM 43 towards Merak, and at KM 68 and KM 45 towards Jakarta.
As one of the toll road operators in Indonesia, the Company relentlessly strives to provide its best to all the stakeholders, particularly the excellent service to the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road users. In this way, the toll road is expected to be truly beneficial and supportive of Indonesia’s economic development, particularly in the Province of Banten and its surrounding areas in the industrial, trade, and tourism sectors.
