About Universitas Indonesia (UI)
Universitas Indonesia – UI is a College in Indonesia. The main campus is located in the North part of Depok, West Java, and the other main campus in Salemba area of Central Jakarta. The UI is generally considered one of the three top-tier colleges in Indonesia along with Gadjah Mada University and the Bandung Institute of technology
History of the University of Indonesia can be traced since 1849. At that time, the colonial Government of Netherlands founded a school that aims to produce an additional physician assistant. Students in the school were getting medical training for two years. Graduates are given a certificate to do basic-level treatments as well as getting his m.d. Java (Javanese Doctor), titled so because the doctor was only given permission to open a practice in the Netherlands East Indies, especially Java. In 1864, the education program plus a three-year, and in 1875 became 7 years. Any given degree turned out to be a Medical Doctor (Medical Doctor).
In 1898, the colonial Government established a new school to train medical personnel, namely the STOVIA (School tot Opleiding van Indische Artsen). Education in the STOVIA lasted for 9 years: 3 years-level JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL, three years of HIGH SCHOOL level, and another three years Diploma level. Many STOVIA graduates later played an important role in the movement of the independence of Indonesia.
In 1924 the colonial Government established the RHS (Rechtshoogeschool te Batavia high schools of law in Jakarta) which aims to meet lowly civil administration personnel. This was the forerunner of the RHS Faculty of Law. In 1927, STOVIA’s name and change the status of a GHS (Geneeskundige Hogeschool). Medical education and training building used GHS became the Faculty of medicine building of the current UI. Many GHS alumni would later play a role in the founding of the University of Indonesia.
After Indonesia declared independence on 17 August 1945, the Board of higher education of the Republic of Indonesia (BPTRI) was established in Jakarta. The BPTRI has three faculties, namely medicine and pharmacy, literature, and law. In the same year, it managed to pass the 90 people as doctors. When the colonial army occupied Netherlands Jakarta in late 1945, the BPTRI moved to Klaten, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Malang. On 21 June 1946 NICA established a Nood Universiteit or University While in Jakarta. On March 21, 1947, the name was changed into Universiteit Nood Universiteit van Onesie (UVI). Finally, after Jakarta was successfully taken over back, the Government restored the BPTRI to Jakarta and combined it with the Universiteit van Onesie, and gave him the new name of University of Indonesia (UI).
The UI was officially started its activities on February 2, 1950 by the President (currently called the Rector) of IR. R.M. Was her first Soerachman Tjokroadisoerio. Office of the President of the Universiteit Indonesia initially domiciled in Jakarta, at Faculty of medicine building on JL. Salemba Raya No. 6, then moved to one of the buildings of the former factory madat on JL. Samlemba Raya No. 4, Jakarta. 2 February 1950 was the birth of the University of Indonesia.
Initially, the UI has 9 faculties and 3 institutions spread across five cities, namely Fakulteit Fakulteit medicine, law science and Science community, as well as Literature and philosophy in Fakulteit Jakarta; Natural Sciences and Science Fakulteit Certainly, Fakulteit Science Engineering, teacher education Institutions and to draw in Bandung; Fakulteit Fakulteit agriculture and veterinary medicine in Bogor; Economic in Makassar Fakulteit; Fakulteit medicine and Dentistry Institute in Surabaya.
In 1955, law No. 10 of the alteration of the word universiteit, universitet, and universitit be approved, so since then, the Universiteit Indonesia officially changed its name to the University of Indonesia.
Gradually faculties in the area broke away to form a stand-alone institution. On March 2, 1959, the Faculty of engineering and the Faculty of natural sciences in Bandung secession became Bandung Institute of technology. Next on September 1, 1963 the Faculty of agriculture and Faculty of veterinary medicine separates the UI itself also became Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) is now the leading agricultural college international standard. The Faculty became Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya and Makassar Hasanuddin University. In 1964, the Faculty of teacher training and educational sciences into teacher training and Educational Sciences Institute (IKIP) Jakarta and now changed back to State University of Jakarta.
When the new order began in 1966, the Government pointed to several great teachers to occupy the post of Minister of the UI with the aim to restore the economic situation nationwide. Since that time, the UI has been constantly contributing real on Government efforts to achieve national prosperity.
On December 26, 2000 via government regulation Number 152 in 2000, the UI set as the College’s status as a State-owned legal entity (BHMN). In the status, the UI must be more emphasis on performance management of a public University with the principles of efficiency, effectiveness, accountability, and transparency. BHMN Status is planned to be concluded at the latest by 2013, and the UI is currently in transition returns status to universities.

- Sehat jasmasni dan rohani, dibuktikan dengan Surat Keterangan Sehat dari Dokter Runah Sakit Pemerintah
- Surat Keterangan Bebas Narkoba dan Zat Adiktif dari dokter Rumah Sakit Pemerintah
