About Asean Secretariat

Asean Secretariat – The Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN is a regional-intergovernmental organization in Southeast Asia. ASEAN was established in 1967 at Bangkok Thailand and founded by Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Philippines. Curently ASEAN comprises by 10 countries in South East Asia Region, including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, and Viet Nam. To support the ASEAN’s projects and activities, ASEAN establish The ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) that was established in 1976. ASEC is based in Jakarta and set up by the Foreign Ministers of ASEAN. Since 2008, Dr Surin Pitsuwan from Thailand become the Secretary-General of ASEAN for 2008-2012 periods.

Jobs Description

Senior Officer Administration

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree in Management, Economics or other appropriate specialist discipline.
  • Extensive supervisory experience, within management position with a minimum six (6) years high-level experience in general administration field with focus on organisation’s procurement and purchases.
  • High-level technical skills and knowledge in area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate skills in problem solving, planning and the development of policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate staff and work effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in identifying training and professional/technical development needs of staff.
  • Demonstrate ability to conduct both formal and on the job training, and foster the career development goals of staff.
  • Demonstrate sound oral and written communication skills and sound interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate commitment to collaborative work practices.
  • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position.
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity, ability for accuracy, ability to work under pressure and adherence to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent command of English, written and spoken.

Technical Officer Political Cooperation

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in International Relations, or an appropriate related field or discipline with at least five (5) years relevant working experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on policy, research and technical skills in the relevant area and ability to acquire them.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and review policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and work flows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
  • Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills and sound interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
  • Proven skills in problem solving in a complex organisational environment and in work planning.
  • Ability to multi-task, work long and irregular hours, perform tasks outside the usual job scope, and willingness to travel frequently on short notice.
  • Good command of English, written and spoken.
  • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position.

Technical Officer Travel

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree from related field or dicipline with minimum five (5) years relevant working experience in travel planning, coordination, and ticketing in a multinational corporation or an international organisation. Applicants with advanced degree with three (3) years relevant working experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate on-line travel reservation system, such as the Galileo Reservation System and/or ABACUS system.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and work flows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
  • Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills and sound interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
  • Proven skills in problem solving in a complex organisational environment and in work planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and review policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and work flows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
  • Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills and sound interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
