PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) operates a coal mine in Sangatta East Kalimantan and is one of the largest export coal mines in the world.

1978

  • The Government of Indonesia invites tenders from foreign companies for the exploration and development of coal resources in east and south Kalimantan. A BP/CRA joint venture was successful in bidding for an area of 7,900 sq. km in two blocks extending 300 km along the coast of eastern Kalimantan

1982

  • PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) incorporated in Indonesia with BP and CRA each holding 50% of the shares. KPC licensed to conduct exploration and mining of coal based on a Coal Contract of Works (CCOW) with the concession covering 90,706 ha. The Indonesian State Coal Company (PTBA) to receive 13.5% entitlement of all production

1988

  • KPC decision to proceed with the development of an export mine with a design capacity of 7 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) following detailed exploration and a feasibility study of prospects close to Sangatta. The prospect has substantial quantity of high quality coal reserves, is close to a coast line with deep water and is strategically located to service growing markets. KPC subsequently relinquished most of the original Agreement Area, retaining 1,961 sq. km

1989

  • Construction commences in January. The budget for the project is US$570 M

1990

  • Work on the large scale mine development commences in June

1991

  • All major items were commissioned by late 1991

1992

  • Commercial exports begin in January 1992

Superntendent – Industrial Relations
(Permanent Position)

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor Degree (S1) majoring in Law, Social Science, Psychology or Mass Communication.
  • At least 7 – 9 years of working experience in the field of industrial relation.
  • Have an understanding of Manpower Regulations of Indonesia.
  • Capability to do negotiation in conflict and pressure situation.
  • Maintain good relation with officials from the Department of Manpower, Disnaker, Industrial Relation Court and all Unions in KPC as well as with KPC employees.

Supervisor – Customs
(Permanent Position)

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor Degree (S1) majoring in any discipline.
  • Holding Customs Expertise Certificate (PPJK).
  • At least 3 years of working experience in Customs Duty.
  • Familiar with Customs Module.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill to liaise within KPC, Counterpart, Subcontractor and Government Worker.
  • Knowledge of material would be an advantage.

Specialist – Purchasing
(Permanent Position)

Requirements

  • Graduate in Industrial Engineering.
  • More than 3 years of working experience in purchasing activities either within a project or mining industries.
  • In depth knowledge of purchasing, customs, logistic warehousing principles and market place.
  • Able to work under pressure and possess creative thinking.
  • Advanced knowledge of prevailing laws and regulations, especially those related to commercial activities.
  • Skills in composing and review of contractual documents.
  • Technical knowledge related to the services is a plus.
  • Skills in analysis, negotiation and communication in Indonesian.
  • Negotiating skills in dealing with agreement matters, after sales services claims, and meetings.
  • Process mapping and facilitation skills.

Specialist – Contract
(Permanent Position)

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor Degree (S1) majoring in Mining or Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience as Contract Specialist / Contract Engineer if preferable.
  • Advanced knowledge of prevailing laws and regulations, especially those related to commercial activities.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Having national or international certification in Supply Chain/ Procurement.
  • Ability to formulate contract documents and ability to interpret contract documents.
  • Wide understanding on supply chain management and continuous improvement techniques to improve it.

Specialist – Organizational Development
(Permanent Position)

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor Degree (S1) majoring in HR Management / Psychology / Industrial Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of working experience in the related field.
  • In depth knowledge of up-to-date Human Resource and organisational development issues.
  • Demonstrated good time management, analytical thinking, problem solving skills.
  • Strong interest in people development.

Coordinator – Safety & Training
(Permanent Position)

Requirements

  • Minimum education of Senior High School (SMA).
  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in mining environment, preferably in maintenance or production, such that a good understanding has developed of the mining operation in general, and of training and HSE systems and programmes specifically.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with personnel at all level.
  • Excellent presentation skills to conduct interesting safety talks.
  • Ability to convince and motivate employees and supervisory staff to comply with Prima Nirbhaya requirements.
  • Excellent coordination and planning skills to achieve competency development for employees according to individual and the departments needs and priorities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and filling system, particularly to meet ISRS audit requirements.
  • Good knowledge of training and development programmes available and the systems and processes to be used to nominate personnel for that training and development.

Engineer – Mining
(Permanent Position)

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor Degree (S1) majoring in Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in Mine technical engineering position with practical production experience an advantage.
  • Proficiency in computing and data analysis programmers.
  • Familiar with MINEX software.

General Requirements

  • Proficiency in English language both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Computing (Microsoft Office).
  • Creative, self-starter, team player and having self-integrity.
